ATA Files Comments Supporting Exemption for Lane Departure Warning Technology  

ATA filed comments with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to allow the camera/sensor from a lane departure warning system to be placed on the truck windshield.  ATA’s comments supported an exemption application filed by Con-way, TK Holdings and Iteris, to waive the prohibition on placing devices in the swept area of the windshield on the grounds that the driver’s view of the road and signage would not be obstructed, Article Continue...

ATA Supports Alternative Securement Methodology for the Transportation of Metal Coils

On July 14, 2010, ATA filed comments supporting the Flatbed Carrier Safety Group’s exemption request concerning the federal load securement regulations applicable to the transportation of metal coils.  ATA told the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration that carriers should be able to use the pre-2004 securement regulations for metal coils that are loaded in contact with each other with eyes crosswise.
