 Harmonization of Diesel Engine Emissions

As both motor carriers and their suppliers look toward global operations, ATA continues its work to harmonize international diesel engine emission standards.  Standardizing equipment from both a purchasing and maintenance standpoint is a logical goal given the global nature of the trucking industry.  In order to improve air quality, and reduce greenhouse gases, the ATA will advocate and support activities that would lead to global harmonization of highway diesel engine emission requirements.

It is ATA’s belief that the engine development effort currently being spent to comply with multiple emission standards could be better spent complying with a single global highway standard while maintaining or improving fuel consumption.  ATA’s position does not endorse any particular technology.
