Electronic tracking may improve business efficiencies for certain segments of the trucking industry; however, these efficiencies are not realized by all segments of the industry.  For many trucking companies the cost of real-time tracking technologies exceeds the benefits derived from these technologies.  ATA opposes government mandates to track hazardous materials.  Tracking of hazmat loads - via cellular or satellite technology - is easily defeated and therefore provides only a false sense of security.
