The ATA SMC is THE national, non-profit organization devoted to advancing safe policies, practices and technology, as well as effective risk management and accident/injury prevention throughout the trucking industry. SMC addresses trucking’s unique human resource challenges, health & wellness initiatives, and recruitment & retention strategies. It creates member value through research, education, information dissemination, peer interaction, consensus building, and recognition programs that contribute to safer, more profitable trucking operations. SMC members include fleet safety professionals; transportation, operations, compliance, and H.R. directors; as well as other motor carrier, intermodal and logistics leaders and suppliers to the industry. SMC manages the National Truck Driving Championships and National Step Van Driving Championships.
