 Trucking Association Executives Council

The Trucking Association Executives Council is comprised of staff executives of state trucking associations and conferences affiliated with the American Trucking Associations. The first recorded meeting of state trucking association executives and ATA was in 1945, although informal meetings were conducted at various times in years previous to that date. Regular annual meetings began in 1955. Eight years later, the “ATA Affiliated Trucking Association Managers Conference” was born. On July 23, 1968, the name was changed to the “Trucking Association Executives Council.”

 ATA Programs

The trucking industry has an impressive record on safety, working to educate the motoring public with safety outreach programs, promote driving skills through national safety outreach programs, promote driving skills through national competitions and awards, and raise safety awareness through joint programs with the U.S. Department of Transportation.

We are also working to enhance the image of the trucking industry, using ambassadors with millions of accident-free miles and decades of service to reach out to the public and their colleagues to show how integral trucking is to the life of every American. Through a public image campaign, the trucking industry conveys the fact that we deliver life’s essentials safely, securely and on time.

 ATA Councils

The Home for Top Trucking Professionals 

Every industry needs its executives to perform at peak level, and trucking is no different.  Industries also thrive when standardization and industry best practices drive inefficiencies out of the market.  ATA recognized these two business imperatives and brought them uniquely together in the ATA Councils, groups of individual hands-on practitioners in key functional areas of trucking.

ATA is the voice of the trucking industry and the trucking industry touches every aspect of our economic life … so, ATA naturally represents not only the industry as a whole, but also the business and operational needs of distinct industry segments.  This work is carried on by the ATA Conferences, groups of member motor carriers and suppliers in a specific line of business.
