CSA 2010's aim is to better identify high risk motor carriers and drivers, but by design will also affect a much larger share of the trucking industry. This major overhaul of the current SafeStat evaluation system will equip the agency will a wider range of interventions to correct specific unsafe behaviors and employing a more sophisticated database.

 

Rollout and full implementation of this new motor carrier assessment is planned for July-December 2010.

    Dave Osiecki is ATA's Vice President for Safety, Security & Operations. Dave has overall responsibility for managing policy development of the department, advocating the policies in the regulatory and legislative arenas, and promoting industry safety and security views and programs. Prior to ATA, he gained 10 years of motor carrier safety experience with the U.S. DOT.

    Dave Potts is ATA's Director of Safety & Operations. His responsibilities include regulatory compliance issues involving FMCSA and advising ATA members on safety management issues. Dave has 30 years of applied safety and insurance experience with over 20 years as safety director for national trade associations based in the Washington, DC area.
