The Grassroots Program

The American Trucking Associations’ grassroots program is ATA’s network of trucking industry members working to influence legislative decisions on the federal and state level. When legislation is introduced that will affect the trucking industry, the grassroots network goes into action. Your involvement is critical to ensure this network is a powerful force on Capitol Hill.

Your Voice is Needed
Whether you have one truck or an entire fleet, your voice is important to ensure that the trucking industry perspective is heard. No other single influence has as much impact on legislators’ votes as informed communications from industry experts like our own trucking industry members.

Your Role

Keep doing what you’re doing. Your experience is what counts. Stay informed – We’ll track legislation and issues as they evolve. You stay informed on the industry issues. Act – Take action when needed. This may take the form of meeting with elected officials, calling them at their congressional office or writing letters. You choose the method you’re comfortable with.

Spread the word – Tell a colleague and a friend. The more people we have speaking, the greater the impact on Congress. Our strength is in our numbers

Our Role

Information – Through regular Legislative Updates we’ll keep you informed on the issues affecting the industry. In addition, our information is posted on our website at www.truckline.com. Communication tools – We provide you with a searchable database of lawmakers and media, a state-of-the- art e-mail system to get your message delivered to Congress and staff specialists available to discuss the issues.

When action is required, we will send you an Action Alert email instructing you on the issue and who needs to be contacted. We also include talking points and sample letters for communicating with your legislators. Annual “Call on Washington” visits enable you to meet directly with lawmakers in Washington, DC.

Strength in Numbers

Our strength is in our numbers but only if we act. Join the grassroots network and help work to promote pro-trucking legislation. Click here to send in your contact information so you can become a voice for trucking.
