Willie Atkinson, Con-way Freight

Willie Atkinson has been a professional truck driver for 22 years and has accumulated over 1.6 million accident-free miles. He is a city driver for Con-way Freight.

Several days each month, Willie speaks to the news media, schools, community groups, and industry and government officials about highway safety and the essentiality of the trucking industry.

Willie has finished first in his division three times at the South Carolina Truck Driving Championships and is a two-time recipient of the Pre-Trip Inspection Skills Award at the state level. Willie has earned his 10 Year Safe Driving Award and is a two-time recipient of the Quarterly Leader Award at Con-way Freight. The South Carolina Trucking Association named him their Driver of the Month for July 2008. In addition to being a member of the South Carolina Road Team, Willie has participated in the Red Ribbon Program for the last ten years.

Willie lives with his wife, Wanda, in Florence, S.C. They have two daughters and a grandchild.
