In 1986, the American Trucking Associations (ATA) created the “America’s Road Team,” a national public outreach program designed to educate the public about highway safety and the trucking industry.  For the past twenty-three years, the Captains have been everywhere.  It is no exaggeration to say that millions of Americans have read, seen or heard the Road Team’s message, “Safety is our Driving Concern.”

Every two years, ATA searches for professional truck drivers, both men and women, who are willing to take time away from the cab of the truck to serve as a Captain.  As Road Team Captains, these professional drivers take a few days each month to meet with the motoring public, the news media, students, transportation officials and government leaders to demonstrate the trucking industry’s commitment to safety.  In addition, Road Team Captains appear at events ranging from driver safety meetings to National Truck Driving Championships to reinforce the importance of safety and professionalism in our industry.

The new 2011-2012 ART Nomination Form
is now available.
