Trucking Industry Participates in Ford Job Fair

GetTrucking.com and America’s Road Team Highlight Benefits of Trucking Career

ARLINGTON, Va. - The American Trucking Associations and America’s Road Team will be in Dearborn, Mich. this Saturday, September 13, to participate in the Ford Motor Company Regional Job Fair.

Through Ford Motor Company's efforts to introduce displaced employees to careers in new industries, the American Trucking Associations is working to show the benefits of a career in trucking with their driver recruitment campaign, www.GetTrucking.com. This job fair allows Ford workers to explore options for a second career, and at the same time helps industries such as trucking recruit new candidates to ease the driver shortage.

GetTrucking.com will promote the campaign’s fully redesigned website that serves as the online resource for potential drivers, driving schools and motor carriers to fill the demand for truck driving jobs. New candidates can use the website to find motor carriers or truck schools that will help them get started in a truck driving career. America’s Road Team Captain Al Adams, a driver for Roadway, will also be there to talk about his 38 years and over 3 million miles of experience as a professional truck driver.

“Our industry is proud to have a significant presence at the Ford Motor Company’s job fairs, and we are thrilled at the prospect of attracting new applicants,” said ATA Vice President Elisabeth Barna. “Workers can sign on to a new, exciting and stable career that cannot be outsourced. And the trucking industry can tap into a vast and dedicated labor force that helped build America into what it is today.”

GetTrucking.com is a nationwide effort to promote positive images of truck driving and to recruit long haul truck drivers into the industry. The overall goal of the campaign is to increase the base of individuals who typically become long haul drivers to include previously untapped labor pools. The advertising campaign directs new candidates, current truck drivers, motor carriers and trucking schools to the website. www.GetTrucking.com

The America's Road Team, sponsored by Volvo Trucks North America, is a national public outreach program led by a small group of professional truck drivers who share superior driving skills, remarkable safety records and a strong desire to spread the word about safety on the highway. www.americasroadteam.com

American Trucking Associations, the national trade association for the trucking industry, is a federation of affiliated state trucking associations, conferences and organizations that includes more than 38,000 motor carrier members representing every type and class of motor carrier in the country.
