Beginning December 8, 2008, the EIA discontinued publication of Low Sulfur Diesel (LSD) prices at the U.S. level. The EIA stated that “LSD price estimates at the U.S. level no longer meet accuracy requirements due to a diminishing number of stations selling LSD as a result of the Environmental Protection Agency's Diesel Fuel Regulations.” The statistical agency will continue to collect LSD prices from the retail outlets in its sample; however, LSD prices will only be included in the nationwide average for all types of diesel. The prices for the national average and ULSD will continue to be published weekly. |
